Zumba, Zumba, Zumba!!

Hello!

It’s been a long week so far and it’s only Wednesday (actually it’s midnight so it’s Thursday).  But anyway…..

I borrowed my parents WII system and bought the Zumba 2 “game”/dvd/whatever you call it.  After finally getting everything set up and the disc installed, synced up, etc…..I finally was able to try it out today after work.

I did a full hour of one of the routines.  I couldn’t find how long all of the routines are for full, short, etc.  I was assuming a full routine would be 60 minutes but after 60 minutes it just kept going on.  Since it was my first time, and I was sweating and breathing heavy, I figured an hour was sufficient?!  We’ll see how I feel tomorrow as to how long I can keep going…..

Monday was my only day off.  I didn’t get a chance to exercise at all.  I hung out at Starbucks with a friend for a couple of hours.  Then did a little shopping and ran some errands.  Then I headed over to my parents house for dinner.  And that’s when I got the wii system.

I had a hard time setting it up because the instruction manuals weren’t that complete (IMO).  One of my friends sons actually told me what I needed to do after he heard me tell his mom my “electronically challenged” story!lol

Tuesday I worked a double (one shift at each job).  It was a long day because we were busy at both places.  After work last night I was supposed to go out for a friends birthday.  But I was so exhausted (as well as having to work the next morning) so I went home and went to sleep.  Needless to say I didn’t get any exercise in.

Today I worked at my 2nd job only.  It was crazy busy…and quite the madhouse!!  I was never so happy to leave work….my feet still hurt from the pounding they got from work today.  Hopefully they feel better because I have to work at my main job tomorrow……and I have a feeling it’s gonna be another busy day.

Fortunately, my main job is more organized and we all work together more easily.  So, I am always happy to go to work each shift :)

As for food, I’ll give the short version.  Monday:  1 banana, Venti eggnog latte, Trenta unsweetened black iced tea, bowl of homemade vegetable soup (no meat with clear broth)–at my moms, piece of tiramisu–also at my moms!! haha, oh and I forgot I had a mini bbq chicken/rice/macaroni salad from l&l hawaiian.

Tuesday:  2 eggs om, 2 sausg, 2 pancakes (4″), & grits all for breakfast. for lunch I had a Trenta unsweetened black iced tea and for dinner I had a fried chix wrap with dinner salad and 2 oz of honey mustard dressing. Oh, yeah also a cupcake for lunch with the tea

Wednesday:  we were so busy at work I never got my break so never had breakfast/lunch.  I left work at almost 3pm.  Ran some errands and did some shopping.  All I had today is a Venti eggnog latte from starbucks and a beef enchilada/beans/rice from Vasquez Deli…..seriously….that’s ALL I had all day…….I have drank 8 glasses of water and am still drinking it as I’m now getting ready for bed.

That’s all for now.  Until next time…….

TGIF…or just another day???

Happy Friday Everyone!!

Tonight will be a short post since I have to be to work early tomorrow and am totally exhausted!

As I said in yesterdays post I eat what I like.  I do not believe in diets.  I believe everything in moderation.

Right now I have bad eating habits.  At this point I am just listing what I eat.  As this process goes forward…..my eating habits will improve.  They probably won’t be perfect…..but much improved!!

So, here goes:

FOOD:

breakfast:  Yoplait fat free yogurt (raspberry cheesecake)…the day STARTED out good :P

snack:  Venti Eggnog Latte (Starbucks) and a Chocolate/Banana cupcake

lunch:  Tina’s bean and beef enchilada (frozen) and 1 cup of garbanzo beans, red kidney beans, diced red onions and Good Seasons Italian dressing

dinner:  Tina’s bean and beef enchilada (frozen) and 1 cup menudo

dessert:  1 cup Carnation milk chocolate hot chocolate (made w/water) with Redi-Whip whipped cream and 1 Lemon cupcake

EXERCISE:

walked 2 miles in 30 minutes (Leslie Sansone’s walking dvd)

The walking is already helping a lot!!  I noticed immediate extra energy and I was in a great mood all day :)   This all helped at work tonight.  I am a server and we were busy tonight!  Also, I wasn’t in pain while at work and even now I am in a lot less pain then I normally am at the end of the day.   These are all good signs and only after 2 days……to me it’s amazing!!

So…TGIF to those who have the weekend off.  I, on the other hand, will be working.

Until next time…….

Loving Myself Fit

Hello my Blogger Friends….

I haven’t blogged for months, I know.  I’ve been working 2 jobs since September and it’s taken me this long to get used to my new schedule.

On top of that I keep getting sick because I’m not taking care of myself.  I am tired, overweight, and in pain physically.  My eating habits suck and I haven’t exercised in quite a while.

I haven’t been to a doctor since 2009 since I no longer have health benefits.  But right now I think my health is at risk, and since I don’t have benefits, I cannot take any chance of really getting sick!!

The realization of my health being at risk hit me last week at my main job.  I bent over to tie my show lace and then straightened up.  A co-worker came up to me a minute or so later and asked if I was okay.  I said yes, why?  She said because my face was red!!  Really?  I don’t think that’s a good sign.

It’s funny.  I’ve read books on health and nutrition.  I read magazine articles and watch shows on these subjects.  I know what needs to be done to be healthy.  But do I follow my own advice?  Uh, no would be the answer to that question.

So, I made the decision last night after another day of total physical pain to where I was having difficulty walking after work to make some changes in my life…….and THIS time actually stick to them!!

I AM ALL I HAVE……IF I DON’T LOVE ME ENOUGH TO IMPROVE MY HEALTH AND LIFE, THEN WHO WILL??

The answer to that……NO ONE

So, each and every day I must make a conscious effort to make good decisions to improve my health.

It’s my choice…..do I finally stop procrastinating and take care of myself??  Or do I just keep going down this road I’ve been on and get even less healthy then I am right now?

Let’s do this thing!!!

I’ve decided to use this blog to track my journey to being a healthy and fit person.

So, I weighed myself this morning.  Unfortunately it was AFTER I took a shower, but whatever, that’s the number I’m going to start with.  It’s a number I haven’t been at in quite a while and am cringing at the thought of posting it online for all to see:

169 lbs

There…..I posted it.  I am ashamed of that number.  How? Why? OMG!!!

Okay, now time to get over it and move on.  It’s time to bring that number down…..way down.

Each day I will list all that I’ve eaten and any exercise that I’ve done.  My food choices won’t always be what people think they should be.  I don’t believe in dieting, per se.  I am a realist.  I like what I like and I don’t like what I don’t like.  I won’t eat something I don’t like no matter how good for me it is!!  Luckily I do like A LOT of good, healthy foods.

Like I said before, I will take this day to day.  It will be a process that I hope will be successful for me.

FOOD:

breakfast:  Venti hot chocolate no whipped cream from Starbucks (Oh, and Starbucks is my weakness)

lunch:  Farmers Scramble (w/2 egg whites & vegies & topped with a little jack cheese), fruit cup and 1 piece of wheat toast.  This is what I had for my break at work today.  It’s about 270 calories

snack:  Venti Eggnog Latte (yeah yeah I know….whatever)

dinner: Tinas beef and bean enchilada (frozen), Tinas beef and bean chimichunga (frozen), 1 cup of menudo, and 1 cup combination of garbanzo beans, red kidney beans, diced red onions mixed with Good Seasons Italian salad dressing.

I’ve had 6 cups of water so far and will drink a couple more before bed tonight.

EXERCISE:

The weather is soooo cold but I wanted to walk.  Since I’ve been in physical pain and am having a hard time walking after working all day, I didn’t want to walk and be far away from home and not be able to get back.  Luckily for me a couple of years ago my mom gave me a Leslie Sansome walking dvd (thank goodness) and so I found it among my exercise dvd’s….dusted it off and away I went!

I walked 2 miles in 30 minutes.  I’m embarrassed to say that it was hard since I used to power walk and I’ve even run a 5k  a little over a year ago!!

But I need to let that go…… I walked 2 miles and even though it was hard I felt great when I was done!!  That’s better!! haha

So, that’s my day.  After work I met a friend for my Eggnog Latte at Starbucks.  I even had time to read!!  The book is Valley of the Dolls.  It’s a classic but I’ve never read it.  Very interesting!!

So, now that I’m done with this post, I am going to use my foam roller on my hips and legs and then head off to bed.  Good night!!!
