I am having a great Sunday and I hope everyone else is too!! I’ll get the bad news out of the way first: my San Francisco Giants lost the third game of the three game series today. Our ace, Tim Lincecum, didn’t really look very ACE-like today. This is the second outing in a row that he has looked not so good. Don’t know what the problem is, but hopefully he can get it worked out before his next start. I only watched until the 4th inning…apparently he didn’t even finish the inning. Luckily I didn’t see him get taken out, but I knew it was gonna happen!
Well, the reason I couldn’t watch or listen to the game was that I had a job interview. Yes, you can have an interview on a Sunday! So, off I went and I am happy to say that I am finally gainfully employed again!! My last job was in an office-type environment but here in California those jobs (like the one I lost) moved out of state. And, the ones left were for much less pay and my commute would have been much further than what I was driving before. So, I had to figure something else out.
I decided to go back to waitressing. I enjoy it and, not to sound like a braggart, I am good at it. Unfortunately, I live in a suburb and there are mostly the regular chain-type restaurants that hire young people without any experience and provide bad food and service. Sorry, but that’s not me. I have only worked at family-owned restaurants and prefer the atmosphere. So, what to do in this current job market??
I recently saw an ad in the paper for job openings for a brand new restaurant here in town. This restaurant is family-owned but is also a small chain. They had an open house this past week and I stopped by. Apparently things went well because I got a call back for this afternoon. During the interview I found out they only wanted to hire people who had experience. This made me very happy. Not that everyone who has experience is actually good, but at least they know the basics. I am so incredibly happy….I don’t know if you can imagine. I really don’t like not having anyplace to go each day. I feel like a giant weight has been lifted!! They are opening soon and will be calling us in the next day or so to let us know when the orientation will be (sometime this week) and that’s when we’ll get part of our uniform that they will provide.
After the interview I went food shopping and then came home and did my workout—yes, The Shred Day 6. (gotta still stay on track!) And, because of my happy mood I loved every minute of it!! lol Right now I’m watching The Next Food Network Star finale.
That’s all from my little part of the world. Happy Sunday to you all!!
