The Shred-Day 4 and a little yoga with that

Can’t believe another Friday has come and almost gone……

I am happy that the local forecast calls for low to mid 90′s starting today through next week.  The weather has been a lot cooler lately and I was fearing that fall was making its arrival already.  So, I get to enjoy hot weather for at least another week or so.

I did do The Shred today (day 4).  It’s difficult but I feel like I really got a workout even though the workout itself (level one) is only 22 minutes long plus a warm-up and cool down.  I know it says a 20 minute workout, but I timed it and it’s more like 22 minutes not including warm-up/cool down.

I’m working out my push-up issues.  I’m still doing them “girly” style (using my knees) but the form is better and I can feel I’m getting a little better at them.  Hopefully by the end of the 30 days I can at least do a couple of military style push-ups (regular ones).

While I still had my exercise “high” I decided to pop in another dvd before it faded away.

amazon.com

Yes, Ali McGraw-Yoga Mind & Body.  I haven’t done this dvd for a long long time.  I have done yoga poses recently but not a 45 minute routine.  And, as I realized……there is a huge difference!!  It was harder than I remember, but then again I was in better shape last time I attempted it.  Although I had a hard time doing a couple of things, I did finish it and that makes me happy.  My body feels better and I know that I will definitely be doing this routine again….and on a more regular basis.

So, I weighed myself this morning.  I wasn’t going to but thought, why not??  Let’s find out where I’m at for the week.  Well, so far I’ve lost 2 lbs this week.  I was surprised and very very very very happy!!!!  Can you tell I’m happy??!! lol

As for what I’ve eaten today:

breakfast: 2 Pop Tart pastries (woke up late) and Venti sugar-free Cinnamon Dolce Latte

lunch: whole grain spaghetti w/ grated parmesan cheese

dinner: 1 turkey burger (2.25 oz), 1 cup grilled eggplant/squash, whole grain spaghetti w/parmesan cheese

dessert: 1 cup Breyer’s Snickers ice cream (yes, I caved)

I am no longer ravenous and only eat when I’m actually feeling hungry.  I’m trying to keep myself very busy so I don’t start grazing–that’s where the problems start!

As for water I have been SO thirsty today.  I drank 4 cups by this afternoon, which is like the old me!!  I have gotten to my 8 cup goal and hopefully I’ll get in another cup before bedtime. Now THIS makes me so very happy!!

Finished reading The Carrie Diaries.  I’ll post a review tomorrow.  I’ll give you a hint……it’s mostly positive.

I started reading another book today….Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin.  So far I like it.  Although I’m only through Chapter 2, a lot has happened and I am already hooked.  It was hard to put it down but I really had a lot to do today.  So, can’t wait to read a little more tonight.  I know I’ll be done with it by tomorrow.  Then I’ll start Something Blue…..yes, I have both books.  I checked them out of the library.  I was on a wait list for both, as well as The Carrie Diaries.  I’m reading them before all of the other books because I know I won’t be able to renew them if I can’t get through them by their due date.

Actually checking books out of the library, rather than buying them, has been a good thing for me (especially when I’ve gotten them after being wait listed) since I know there’s a deadline and if I can’t finish by that date……too damn bad for me!!  I have tons of books all over my house that I’ve purchased over the years waiting and begging to be read.  But since I own them, I know I’ll eventually get around to them……or will I???

Well, the San Francisco Giants baseball game just ended….they lost to the San Diego Padres and I am exhausted!  I really hate Friday night TV because there is nothing on except Say Yes To The Dress on A&E.  So, that’s what I’m going to watch until bedtime.  And, maybe do a little reading….

And, of course, the movie I have been waiting for has finally opened:

I will definitely be seeing it this weekend….probably tomorrow.  And, in the meantime, Oprah is re-airing the Eat Pray Love show with Julia Roberts today.  Well, I missed it this afternoon, but it’s on again in about 20 minutes on a local Sacramento channel and then again at 1:00 am on ABC.  Yes, I already saw it……but I just have to see it again before I go see the movie!!

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Happy 4th of July and my adventure seeing Eclipse

How time flies!!  I just realized I hadn’t posted anything for several days.

I’ve just been getting ready for the holiday weekend.  We are supposed to be bbq’ing at my parents tomorrow.  My  mom called me tonight to say she decided they are not bbq’ing anymore, that she went and got a roast from Tahoe Joe’s.  Huh???  Uh, mom….it’s going to be around 100*F tomorrow, who wants a roast?  It’s not wintertime for goodness sake…..

She said she didn’t want my dad out in the heat tomorrow.  Okay, I get that…with the heat and the fact that his back has been out the past week, that’s understandable.  Well, I could have done the cooking.  I know how to bbq.  But she didn’t want to hear it and I got annoyed, which I normally don’t get with my mom.

Bottom line, there’s only going to be 4 of us:  my sister (a vegetarian), my dad (who is on a restricted diet due to his health), my mom and I.  Who is she buying this roast for?   Not for me, my sister or my dad.

She does this at every holiday now.  She plans these meals and then at the last minute she changes her mind and either gets a roast from Tahoe Joe’s (a local steakhouse restaurant) or decides we are going out to eat.

I tell my mom I have no problem doing the cooking but she always says she’ll take care of it.  Then, I guess, she decides she really doesn’t want to do all of the work and instead of letting me help her, she just changes her mind.

I was only in charge of the dessert, which I’ve made.  I made an Angel Food cake with a strawberry sauce to go on top.  It’s light, yummy, and refreshing.  She used to make it for us when we were kids in the summertime.  I also made cupcakes–just because they are my latest obsession!!

So, I really have no clue what’s going on tomorrow. With the roast, is my mom no longer making her potato salad and other regular bbq side dishes??  I wish she would have called me, I would have been happy to do all of the work.  It’s actually no work at all for me.  I love to cook and can whip these side dishes up pretty quickly!!

On another note, I went and saw Twilight Saga: Eclipse and loved it!!!  It was better than New Moon, which I thought wasn’t so good.  Anyway, the only thing bad about seeing the movie wasn’t the movie itself, but the three teenage girls who decided to sit next to me.  They proceeded to talk (loudly) during the movie—which is a huge irritant to me!!  If I’m going to pay $10.00 to see a movie, I want to hear what’s being said!!  When they refused to stop, I finally leaned over and (quietly so as not to disturb everyone else) told them to “shut up” and told them that there were some of us who actually came here to watch the movie and if they wanted to talk, maybe they should leave!

I still can’t believe I did that, but it went on non-stop and they were very loud!!  For the most part they stopped.  I don’t mind a little talking, but please do so quietly!!  And, then a baby started fussing and crying in the back.  Yes, really, some moron brought a BABY to the movies…and it wasn’t even a Disney one.  The same thing happened when I went to see Sex And The City 2 someone brought their baby—-probably the same people!! LOL

So, I have a long day tomorrow so I am off to bed.  I wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July!

Tuesday Wrap-Up, RealityTV, & a Book Review

I haven’t been very good at logging my food & everything else this week so far.  Today I haven’t written anything down but it’s pretty easy so here goes:

Sleep:

Last night I slept a total of 7 1/2 hrs, which is a lot for me lately!!  Too bad it wasn’t all at once.  I slept for 6 hrs, was awake for about 45 min’s and then slept again for 1 1/2 hrs.  At least I got over 7 hrs of sleep!  If it’s going to take baby steps to get back on track, then I’ll take it!

Eating:

Breakfast:  1/2 cup Shredded Wheat, 1/2 cup 1% milk, 1/2 cup blueberries

Snack:  Venti sugar-free Cinnamon Dolce Latte

Lunch:  1 cup of watermelon, 1 Klondike bar (I know, not good–but I wasn’t really that hungry and ice cream sounded soooo good!)

Snack:  2 Wasa crackers, 1 wedge Laughing Cow cheese

Dinner:  Herb & Gorgonzola Frittata, 1 bottle of Snapple diet Trop-A-Rocka

Dessert:  It’s It (another ice cream sandwich…what can I say??)

Water:

So far I’ve had 4 cups of water and I’m still drinking…..I’m hoping to get to 7-8 cups by bedtime

Exercise:

**crickets**

I only ran once last week but it was a good workout.  The heat has been so bad the past couple of days (Sunday and Monday were both over 100*F.  Today was in the high 90′s.  I really need to start getting up early in the morning to workout otherwise I won’t do it since it’s so hot.  Let’s see what happens tomorrow morning….I really need some motivation!!

As for Tuesday night TV, I am watching the San Francisco Giants get beat by the LA Dodgers.  I’m so NOT happy right now…..I had to change the channel to Hell’s Kitchen.  I watched part of Losing It With Jillian.  Later on I’ll be watching The Hills, The City and Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D List.

Last night I watched Real Housewives of NJ.  What is up with Danielle?  She is the craziest person on TV (well, she’s tied with Kelly from Real Housewives of NY).  But the difference between Danielle and Kelly, I think, is that Kelly is crazy cuckoo and needs to go see a psychiatrist but I don’t think she’s dangerous; whereas Danielle is off-her-rocker, she’s-gonna-snap-at-any-moment, scary crazy.

Both Kelly and Danielle live in their own little worlds, which don’t even come close to reality…..but Danielle is the one I think I would be afraid to be anywhere near at any time!!  Neither one should be on a reality show or anywhere on TV or the public eye.  Hopefully Bravo does what’s best for those two and let’s them out of their contract so they can get the help they desperately need!!

I have been trying to watch The Bachelorette this season since Ali is from the Bay Area.  I’ve never seen this show before this season, but to be honest, I cannot believe people watch it.  Has anyone on the show that matched up ever actually marry each other?? And if so, how many?? It HAS to be a very low number.

This seasons bachelorette, Ali, is a little dim, I think.  She’s very cute and all, but not so bright.  And, as for the guys, I am so NOT impressed!!  I have honestly found this show to be one of the most boring reality shows that I’ve ever seen!!  I’ll see it through to the end, but this is one girl who will not waste another Monday night watching this sham of a show!!  And, I can’t imagine watching the Bachelor where it’s a house full of women.  That would have to be the biggest catfight every single week.  I don’t think I could take it!! haha

I finished reading Lipstick Jungle this weekend.  It started off really slow and took a while for me to warm up to it.  The warm up, however, was lukewarm at best!!  Ms Bushnell has managed to have her characters appear in 3 books:  Four Blondes, Trading Up (which I’m still trying to read) and Lipstick Jungle.  What’s the matter, couldn’t she come up with any original characters??

If the characters were really interesting, then it would be okay.  However, they were cliched Hollywood or wealthy types and I was very disappointed to see them rehashed!!

After reading 3 Candace Bushnell books (Sex & The City, Four Blondes, & Lipstick Jungle), I find her writing sub-par and amateurish at best.  I’m so disappointed considering all of the hype around her and the fact that I am a HUGE Sex & The City TV show and movie fan.  But then, she didn’t write any of those, now, did she??  Thank goodness for that!!

After I finish reading Trading Up (so far just as boring as the others with forgettable characters) I will read The Carrie Diaries.  Luckily I didn’t buy any of these books, but  checked them out of the library.  I’m on a long list for the Carrie Diaries at the local library and it should be my turn in about a month or so…..

I started reading The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella last night.  It’s okay so far but at least it’s more entertaining than what I’ve been reading!!

Weekend Wrap-Up

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!!  Mine was fun and relaxing.

Saturday: I started off by checking out the tank tops for $2.00 at Old Navy.  I ended up getting 5 (which was the maximum).

I ended up with peach, red, blue and 2 black tank tops.  Then I was off to a few garage sales.  As usual, I was prepared–having scoured the newspaper and marked my map.  I ended up at all the ones I wanted to see and while driving around town, I saw signs for several more that I just had to stop off at.  It was graduation day so it was a slower than usual day for people having the garage sales.

With that said, and all of the driving around, I ended up spending a whopping $1.50 on two items:

I found a Scarlett O’Hara Hallmark Keepsake ornament (circa 1997) which originally sold for $14.95 and is worth around $25.00.  I paid $1.00 for it.

The second item is the pair of earrings.  I have to be careful of the earrings I wear.  Because I tore the hole in one of my lobes, I can no longer wear heavy earrings.  This pair is super light and for .50 cents, I couldn’t go wrong!!

I was done around noon and it was pretty warm: 92*F.  I went home to eat,  then relax in my backyard (in the shade) and read.

While relaxing I got a phone call from a friend wanting to meet for coffee.  She was at a coffee place near my house, but that I’ve never been to, and I agreed to meet her.

Let me start by saying that I am a Starbucks girl.  All of my family and friends know this.  I have a specific drink that I get:  a venti Sugar-Free Cinnamon Dolce Latte no whip.  And, at Christmastime I will splurge and get the Eggnog Latte.

But sometimes I really do need to break out of my comfort zone and try something new.  I’m not that picky about trying new types of food, or going to new places (I LOVE to travel), but for whatever reason I am super picky about what I drink.

There are only a few things I’ll drink:  water (not flavored–just plain old fashioned bottled H2O), my Starbucks drink, milk/chocolate milk, fresh-brewed iced tea (NO sugar and not flavored), hot tea,  Snapple’s diet Trop-A-Rocka, and then maybe twice a year I’ll have either a 7Up or Sierra Mist.  That’s it…..well, I’m not including alcohol/wine.  But I’m picky with that also.

So I get to this coffee shop that my friend is at (she buys a drink and sits in there all day for the free Wi-Fi–apparently there isn’t a time limit).  I am debating what to get–it’s hot outside and I’ve already had my caffeine fix (ie Starbucks) first thing this morning.  After being assured by the super nice and helpful barista I tried their freshly brewed Mango iced tea (no sugar).

I was pleasantly surprised…….but I really liked it!! The mango flavor was not overpowering and, thank goodness, there was no sugar.  It was an excellent drink for the heat!  I only wish the shop had adjusted their air conditioner because it was pretty warm and the ice melted fast!!

Sunday: I decided to have a lazy day.  It was hot again so I grabbed my magazines and the current book I’m reading (Four Blondes by Candace Bushnell) and headed outdoors to enjoy the weather.  In between I came in to watch the SFGiants game.

Later in the afternoon, I didn’t feel like cooking at all but was hungry, so I ran over to L & L Hawaiian and got the mini Chicken Katsu.  I became addicted to L & L last summer when a co-worker ordered it and gave me some.  It’s actually been awhile since I’ve had it…..but it’s just how I remembered it!!  I actually split it up and had half for lunch and the other half for dinner.

Monday: I know, Monday isn’t part of the weekend, but I didn’t post anything yesterday so I’m including it.  I ended up at Target and wandered around for awhile.  I have been looking at self-tanners online and wanted to try one of the new items.  However, when I got there and looked at them all I found myself picking up the Jergens Natural Glow, which I already have.

After walking all over the store, I came back to the lotion/suncare area and looked at all of the products again.  I ended up getting L’Oreal’s Sublime Bronze:

I’ve read good and bad reviews on this product, but it seemed there were more good reviews than bad, so…….

I tried it out last night.  I thought I read that with it being tinted, color shows up faster than other self-tanners.  I don’t really see that much of a difference, but I will keep using it and see what happens.

Also, the negative reviews said that this product shows streaking but I don’t see any of that as of yet.  I did rub it in good though.  I tried it on my face and so far all’s good.  I will keep you updated on this item……

The Weekend is here!!

Boy, did this week fly by!!  I didn’t realize I hadn’t posted anything since Tuesday night.

Last night I went for a run.  I wasn’t going to, but the weather was perfect so I just had to!!  I was planning on running 3 miles but there were so many people at the park that it was hard to get the whole mile in around that trail.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad to see people out there exercising, but all at the same time??  It makes it a little difficult.  So, I ended up running 2.5 miles—which isn’t bad.

I also watched the first part (of three parts) of Real Housewives of New York reunion.  This was a stressful season and this part of the reunion was too.  Afterward was the premiere of Bethenny Getting Married? .  What a nice departure from the craziness that was RHONY!!  I laughed throughout the episode….Bethenny is hilarious!!

Last night I made some “no-bake” cookies.  They are simple to make (yes, really, no baking!!).

I was craving something chocolate-y and didn’t have anything fitting that description in the house, except some cocoa powder, and remembered this recipe so I made them.  It only took about 5-10 minutes and then once you spoon them on the wax paper you have to let them set.  They are delicious!!

I have slowly gone through my house Spring Cleaning it and finally got to my beauty products and make-up.  Boy what I have accumulated!!  I dumped anything more than 2 years old (which was a lot!!) and most of what’s left was purchased within the last year (except the mascara, which I have always replaced after 3-4 months).  I had a lot of lipsticks….most of which were impulse purchases and free samples (Lancome).

From all of the cleaning I have an accumulation of stuff that needs to be donated.  Luckily, two charities are coming through my neighborhood next week so I will be getting this stuff ready to go.  Right now it’s in a pile in my office and I can’t wait for it to be cleared out.

I am in a minimalist state of mind right now and do not want, or like, any clutter in my house.  So I will be thrilled when this stuff is finally gone!!

I am so excited for the weekend.  Old Navy is having $2.00 tank tops on sale at 7am tomorrow.  I may stop in to see what type of tanks.  Then I will be hitting the garage sales around town.  A friend of mine is an awesome garage sale pro and someday I hope to be as good!!

A couple of years ago we found two Coach purses at a garage sale for $5.00 each.  We bought them both.  I have several Coach purses and the one she got was the same one I bought at the Coach outlet store the year before and the one I got was a basic black one, which was perfect because I needed a black purse.  Yes, I did check to make sure they were real…..and they were!!  Score!!!

Last summer one of my neighbors had a garage sale and I found a Matt Cain bobblehead for $2.00!!  Matt is a starting pitcher for the San Francisco Giants.  For non-baseball lovers:  Throughout the baseball season teams have whats called bobblehead days for different players on the team and if you’re one of the first of whatever the cutoff number is who show up that day for the game, you will get that bobblehead.  I have two other bobbleheads:  Randy Johnson and Brian Wilson, so it was nice to add to the collection.

My only other set plans this weekend are to read, enjoy the weather and watch baseball.

………wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Running, eating & Tuesday night TV

I didn’t want, but I needed, to run today.  It’s been 6 days since I’ve done any type of exercise and my body is not happy with me!  I tried to put it off as long as I could…

hoping the feeling would pass….

but it didn’t.  So, I put my running shoes on and went to the park.

It was 68*F and 47% humidity….but luckily there was a nice cool breeze that made it tolerable.

I don’t know why I fight exercising because once I get going I feel so much better, both physically and mentally.

I only ran 2 miles today….which is good because my goal was 1 mile :P

I almost stopped off at Baskin Robbins for their $1.50 a scoop family night after my run, but decided against it.  I think it was a good call.  I’m craving something sweet but I don’t have anything in the house.  Well, I do have sugar-free jello pudding in the cupboard.  I guess that will have to do…..

breakfast:

Shredded Wheat, blueberries and 1% milk

lunch:

tuna salad "sandwich"

dinner:

Turkey burger, shredded brussel sprouts and a salad

Since the San Francisco Giants game is over my night is free to watch my other shows.  So, right now I’m watching Kitchen Nightmares which I love!! Then I think I will check out NCIS: LA.  I am one of the few people I know who has never seen it.  Love LL Cool J but haven’t had the chance to check this show out.  Then the show I wait all week to watch:  The Hills, and then The City.  I have become completely addicted to these scripted reality shows. What is wrong with me?!

Well, enjoy your night………

So….dinner was wonderful.  I enjoyed Kitchen Nightmares and NCIS: Los Angeles.  I will admit that I never made dessert.  I had a Snapple Trop-A-Rocka instead.  It did the trick and my “sweet craving” was satisfied!  BTW, thank you Bret Michaels for this sugar-free treat….YOU ROCK!!! Now….on to The Hills and The City

National Running Day

Today, June 2nd is National Running day!! I did my part by running 3 miles late this afternoon.  I would be lying if I said it was an easy 3 miles.  I haven’t run in 9 days, which definitely wasn’t the problem.  The temperature & humidity made it a miserable run.

The temperature was 79*F and the humidity was 47%.  It doesn’t sound that bad…but it felt more humid than 47%.  I wore running shorts and a moisture wicking top and didn’t forget my water this time (thank goodness because I really needed it!!).

When I got to the place I normally run and got out of my car, I was already sweating…which didn’t bode too well for a great run.  I dragged for most of the way and didn’t run as well as I’d hoped.  During the last 1/4 mile I almost threw up.  Yes, I know…TMI!!  Sorry, but it had to be said….

But even though it wasn’t my best run I completed my task and feel good about that!!   I am proud of myself for not quitting.  Gotta take each success as it comes, no matter if it’s big or small…..

It’s Tuesday & Biggest Loser Finale is tonight!!

Last night around 10:15pm my electricity went out and when I called the electric company the recording said it was due to “damaged equipment” and it would either come back on or there would be updated info by 12:45am.  At 12:30am I called back and the automated system said on or update by 1:30am.  I was still up then so I called and the recording said on or update at 5:00am.  Okay, I give!! I blew out the candles and went to sleep.  I woke up at 7:15am and my livingroom and office lights were on.  Yay, electricity is back!!

I got up and ate breakfast:  1 cup of Shredded Wheat and 1 cup 1% milk.  I did some housework (it never ends!) including laundry.  Left to go run some errands and my mom called and invited me to lunch.  I had a cheeseburger and fries, but only ate half and took the rest home!!  It was  a nice enjoyable lunch and our server was super nice!!  Always take good care of your server if he or she is good!  They are sometimes few and far between nowadays!!

It had been overcast all morning and by the time we were leaving the restaurant the rain had just started.  The rest of the afternoon it rained, or poured–depending on which side of town you live on. It’s a perfect day to do housework…my house is looking shiny!

My mom called me a little while later to let me know my dad called her to let her know that one of my cousins was just diagnosed with cancer.  They think it was work related–something about paint fumes.  I am shocked and saddened….I hope they caught it in time.  So, my mom and I ended up on the phone forever and hung up just in time for the SFGiants game.

And, as for my dad calling my mom–my parents are divorced and have been for many many years!  I am one of those lucky people you never hear about who’s parents were able to set aside their problems and put the kids first!  My parents get along great!! My step-dad and dad also get along very well.  I know….when does that ever happen??

So, I never got a chance to do my workout today…..that’s as in Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred.  I feel bad about it so while I am watching the Biggest Loser finale I will be doing some ab work and lunges/push-ups/etc…

Never was able to watch Real Housewives of New Jersey last night since my electricity went out.  So, I need to play catch-up.  As for Biggest Loser, who do you want to win??  I don’t know because I love them all.  I hope Koli gets to the finals….although I love Daris too.  Honestly, this is the first season I will be super happy for whoever wins!!

Monday’s run, but no 30 Day Shred

Normally I try to run Tuesdays/Thursdays/Saturday or Sunday.  However, I haven’t been very consistent with my running lately….a little laziness maybe??  Anyway, I also looked up the weather forecast for this week and made the decision to do something different.  Instead of waiting until Tuesday, I decided to start my week of with a run.

So, this afternoon I checked the weather, changed my clothes and went running.  The weather was a cool 64*F, but the humidity was 50%, and the winds were 13 mph.  I wore shorts (because of the humidity) but wore a long sleeve cotton shirt (because of the winds).  It ended up being the perfect outfit!!

I ran my usual route but changed it around a little.  Running the neighborhood is 1 mile up and 1 mile back and running around the park trail 3 times equals 1 mile.  Normally I run the neighborhood first and finish up with the park.  However, too often I am finding myself finding excuses to stop before I run the full mile in the park.  So, I ran the 3 laps first and then ran up and back down the main street.  It worked out perfect!!

When I run the neighborhood, it is opposite from where my car is parked so I can’t quit….I have to either walk or run back.  See, sometimes I have to use psychology on myself!!  How sad is that?!  I started my run a little too fast because my legs were exhausted the last 1/4 mile and it took everything I had to run my intervals and finish somewhat strong!

I am continuing my interval schedule from last week: 2 minute run/2 minute walk X 9.  However, since I ran 3 full miles today what I actually ended up running was:  run 2 minutes X 11/walk 2 minutes x 10, + 1:13 min walk.  It was a great run and it put me in a great mood for the week.

Because I ran so late–6:15pm, I have decided not to do my 30 Day Shred workout tonight.  I debated this with myself but decided that whenever I do the workout after my run (usually a few hours) my knee’s are “not right” ( I don’t really know how to describe it, they don’t necessarily hurt, but I can “feel” them).  I would have been doing the workout within a half and hour from when I got home from running.  I don’t want to mess up my knee’s, so I am going to err on the side of caution. Don’t worry, I will be back tomorrow to do Day 10….the last day of level 1!!

Tonight I will do some ab work and a little yoga.  Dancing With The Stars is on tonight as well as the premiere of The Bachelorette.  I have never seen The Bachelor or Bachelorette before…but the girl is from the Bay Area, so I thought I’d check it out.   Besides, Real Housewives of New Jersey is on at 10pm so I probably won’t watch all of it anyway.

Today for breakfast I had a Sugar-free Cinnamon Dolce Latte from Starbucks –no whip.  I know, not the best choice, but it’s better than nothing!  For lunch I had a turkey burger and Summer Squash Medley (leftovers from the other day).  After my run I had a Fuji apple w/2 Tbsp of peanut butter.  For dinner tonight I am going to have whole grain pasta and broccoli. Also, for snack earlier today I had a few walnuts.

I’m still not drinking enough water.  I know I’m dehydrated, even though I don’t really feel like it.  So far today I’ve had 4 cups of water.  I am going to go guzzle some more and maybe I can get to 8 cups by bedtime?? Fingers crossed!!

Flip-flop shopping & the 30 Day Shred

Late last night I did Day 7 of the Shred.  It was a great workout, but even after taking a shower I couldn’t sleep.  That wasn’t good because I had to get up early–my mom and I were going to Old Navy for their $1.00 flip-flop sale that started at 7am!!

We got to Old Navy around 6:45 am and there was already a line.  At 7am they only let a certain number of people in at a time so it wasn’t crazy and we could shop without the frenzy of last year.  The limit was 5 pairs of flip-flops again.  We were in and out within 15 minutes.

Then we walked over to Panera to have breakfast.  I had already looked at their website the night before to see what I wanted.  Normally I would get a cinnamon roll and hot chocolate but I am trying to eat better!  I ended up with a blueberry bagel with 2 little packets of butter (I think they were only 1 tsp each) and hot tea.  I wanted green tea but the tea company no longer has green tea (what?? That is beyond belief!)

After a leisurely breakfast we drove across town to the local farmers market.  They just started it back up for the summer so not all of the vendors were there.  It was beautiful weather this morning–clear skies and a slight breeze.  Perfect for a walk through the farmers market.

Well, that weather didn’t last long.  By noon it was black clouds, sprinkling and very windy!!  I’m telling you, this Northern California weather this year so far has really been interesting, to say the very very least!

I watched the SFGiants game and had lunch–a turkey burger and summer squash medley–I made it all last night and portioned it out for meals this upcoming week.  After the game, with the winds howling, the rain coming down and me being exhausted, I took a nap. I never take naps…that means I was really tired!!

When I woke up I did a little housework and then did the 30 Day Shred–Day 8.  I can’t believe I only have 2 more days at Level 1.  I was really tired and didn’t want to work out today.  Like I keep saying, the old me would have just skipped it.  But I got myself up, put my workout outfit on, turned the dvd player on and just did it!!

Now, I feel great and am so glad I decided to stick with my schedule!  It was a butt-kicking sweat-fest as usual.   Can’t wait to do it again tomorrow!!
